I try to spend at least a few days out at the Cape every summer. I’d been walking the beach at Race Point, and though it was getting late, there were still one or two surfers out catching some waves before the sun faded behind the ridge. I waited for the right moment, then took the photo. That winter as I was painting in my studio, I couldn’t wait to be back there on a warm summer evening.
